Precious Moments

Life can become a chaotic rush of lists of things to get done. Without indulging in a few precious moments to recharge the mind and spirit, one may eventually experience burn out. Each day, indulge in a little pampering, look for creative ways to melt the stress.

Begin each day with a smile. This may be difficult at first but try to find one good thing to smile about. Get your mind off your problems, reach out and help someone.

Stress will melt away daily as you make some time for yourself. Aromatherapy can easily fit into your routine while it will enhance the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Surround yourself with pleasant odors from your favorite spices, plants, and flowers. Try a few essential oils that are good for your complexion, reduce stress and stimulate creativity.

How about paying closer attention to your hair, which some call their crown of glory? Eat more protein; this may add some life to limp tresses. The health of the hair will improve with good nutrition. Eat more eggs, lean fish, whole grains, beans and seeds to enjoy the benefits of beautiful hair.

Make time for appropriate skin care. Cleanse the face before bed to unclog pours and allow the skin to breathe while sleeping.

Give yourself a real treat with a footbath at least once a week. How the feet feel affects the rest of the body. Prepare a basin of warm water with a few drops of tea tree oil and soak the feet for 5 to 10 minutes. Use a pumice stone to rub out the rough patches. Follow with a foot massage. Mix 1 Tablespoon each of salt and extra virgin olive oil and add the mixture to 5 drops of peppermint oil and massage the entire foot. Your feet will surely thank you.

Make some simple changes to your diet and reap the rewards of more energy and a healthy body. Enjoy beans, which are high in vitamin B, an excellent mood stabilizer. Broccoli is a nutritional powerhouse packed with vitamins A, B and C as well as minerals. Enjoy the cold fighting benefits of vitamin C in oranges. Bananas are a quick energizing snack providing Vitamin B, C and fiber. Eat frozen seedless grapes, dates, yogurt and fruit for increased energy. Add garlic to your diet to cut cholesterol or to fight a sore throat. Drink plenty of water to hydrate the skin and flush out the toxins.

Getting enough sleep will enable you to better handle your daily routines. Go to bed the same time every night. This routine will help you fall asleep naturally. Exercise early in the day to avoid stimulation too close to retiring. Do not go to bed on a full stomach. The digestion process will keep you awake. Drop a few drops of the essential oil of lavender on your pillow to promote relaxation. Getting plenty of quality sound sleep will allow the body to rest and recharge.

Create an atmosphere in the bedroom. Make it your romantic retreat, a place to read, relax and dream. Choose favorite colors for this room to surround you. Satin sheets will create a sensual mood while flannel will set a cozier atmosphere. Fill the room with the relaxing greenery of plants. Awake the senses with the fragrant flowers of lilac, lavender, honeysuckle, hyacinth and lily of the valley. Have a journal on the nightstand to write private thoughts and unwind at the end of the day. Also have a place to keep your scented candles and flavored teas. Listen to your favorite music and feel the stress of the day melt away.

Find time each day to exercise. Choose an activity you like such as biking, hiking, swimming etc. Exercise with the family or a friend for more fun. The key is to find something you enjoy and just do it. Exercise will make you feel healthier.

Watch a child explore the world. Imitate the child’s innocent ability to take an unplanned barefoot fun run through the cool wet grass. Skip through a rain shower on a hot summer day.

Talk to the inner child inside you. Sing and hum to yourself as you enjoy the scents, sounds and textures of everything around you.

Give yourself the gift of a pause each day to unwind and melt the stress away. Finding time for those precious moments that will boost your own well-being.
