To experience the powerful physical energy of your words, use this simple arm exercise.
(Refrain from doing this exercise if you have any injury or experience pain at any time during the exercise.) This is a form of kinesiology, muscle testing.* It only takes a minute. Before doing this exercise, review the examples below of commonly used negative expressions and choose one that you use often along with a Proactive WORDpower alternative. Then proceed with these three steps.
To do this exercise you need a partner. From a standing position, lift your strongest arm straight out to your side and comfortably up to shoulder level. Either speak or think of something that you enjoy or feel good about
family, sports, vacation. For instance, I love spending time with my family. Or I really enjoy golf. As you are making your statement, have your partner press down on your wrist using just two fingers. Resist the pressure. Notice your arm will stay strong and will not be able to be pushed down. The positive statement is filling your entire mind-body system with its energy. When we use positive words, we feel empowered and energized.
Then state the negative expression you chose such as I never have enough time or I have a real problem. Have your partner apply pressure again. You will not be able to resist the pressure and hold your arm up. Your mind-body system is being affected adversely by the negative words. In this state of mind we lose our energy and feel powerless.
To reclaim your energy and your power, restate or just think the Proactive WORDpower alternative for what you DO want such as I want more time. Or I need a solution. Reapply the pressure. Your arm will test strong. You may want to experiment with different expressions.
